This book is adorable. The illustrations are cute and the stories and songs are precious. So, why the four-star? Well, I was familiar with almost all of the songs and could easily sing them to my child. What happens if you’re not familiar with the tune of one of the songs? Sure, a parent can go to youtube or the internet to find the tune but…meh.
I think I would have appreciated this book more if it had notes such as:
Sung to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.
Even adding the simple sheet music would have added greatly to this book. Many children and parents will not be familiar with these songs. Perhaps adding a CD pocket would be beneficial. In any event, you may enjoy this book with your child, if you’re familiar with the song. Otherwise, you’re going to have to look them up.
I know this may seem like I am nitpicking. But, I don’t want to have to interrupt story time to go look something up on the internet. This book is cute and enjoyable. But, the author definitely didn’t consider that a person may be unfamiliar with the tunes.
