A rival threatens Emmie's budding romance with Isaac.
At Fort Laramie, soldier Isaac Liddle determines he will court and win Emmie Croftner's hand. Though courting seems improbable for a woman in her condition, Emmie begins to care deeply for Issac and chafes as Jessica Dubois sets her bonnet for him.
When Jessica learns of Emmie's secret pregnancy, she blackmails her. With the Sioux Wars raging outside the safety of Fort Laramie, Emmie knows she cannot lose Isaac. But will he reject her--and her child--if he learns the truth?
This series really picked up for me, finally. Sarah is no longer the main focus and honestly, I like Emmie so much more. I found that I wasn’t irritated by Rand anymore and I really enjoyed learning more about Emmie.
I have to say, I rolled my eyes when the busy body from a previous installment showed her ugly little face again. My word, that woman is just vile–I love it! I really wish this series had followed Emmie from the go, with Jessica as the conniving villain because for the first time in this series, I finally started getting emotionally invested in the lives of the characters.
This installment in the series was really the saving grace for all the previous novellas. I’m really starting to get into the series.
I’m chewing my fingers and diving right into book #6, A Heart’s Home!
