Come and sit awhile as you enjoy 18 fictional short stories of love, joy, and the peace found in Amish country.
Amish Country is known for an atmosphere of peace and quiet, perfect for front-porch sitting with a good book. Join New York Times bestselling author Wanda E. Brunstetter, her daughter-in-law, and granddaughter, as they share 18 heartwarming stories from Amish Country. These fictional short stories include journeys we can all relate to as we seek how to live led by love, joy, peace, patience, and other Fruits of the Spirit. Meet Anna, who struggles to show love to a cantankerous neighbor; Laura, who endures infertility; Nora, whose pride threatens to consume her life; and other women who walk in their faith each day.
Amish Front Porch Stories: 18 Short Tales of Simple Faith and Wisdom is a collection of 18 short stories written by Wanda E. Brunstetter, Jean Brunstetter, and Richelle Brunstetter.
I gave this book four solid stars out of five. I knew when I pick it up that the book was comprised of short stories and that it’s very difficult to flesh a story out in such limited space. Each short story is completely standalone and I do feel that had they linked in some way, I would have connected a bit more with the characters.
Aside from wishing I could connect more, the stories were very well done. Each one correlates to a fruit of the spirit. While applicable year ’round, character building is something I gravitate to during the autumn months.
If you’re looking for a quick read in the Amish genre, this book should be a perfect fit for you. I think this book would be perfect to read when you’re traveling or super busy with festivities because each short story is 8-10 pages. This gives you plenty of time to put the book down and walk away to get other things done.
I would definitely recommend this book to fans of Wanda Brunstetter and for those who love short stories. It’s just a really good, clean, feel-good read.
