I’d like to thank James from This is my Truth Now for tagging me in this! It has been awhile since he tagged me but I needed to think on things. This was really hard. So many great couples out there that I couldn’t narrow down who I loved!
The Guide:
- Thank the person who tagged you and create a pingback to the original author – Nel at Reactionary Tales.
- Share at least 5 (but more are welcome) romances that tugged your heart strings. They can be from books, movies, TV shows, manga; anything you can think of! They can be examples of sad tears, angry tears, happy tears or a combination of all three.
- Nominate 5 (or more) people to share their emotional traumas
- (Note: Try not to spoil the story for your readers in case they would like to check out these romances on their own)
Brace yourselves:
1: Kahlan and Richard from The Sword of Truth Series
Just so everyone knows, I mean the books and not the terribly produced TV show. I love that while Richard was physically attracted to her that her intellect is what he appreciated the most. He was devoted—completely. I love these two so much that I actually have a daughter named after Kahlan. If anyone wonders, that is pronounced Kay-lan.

2: Finnick and Annie from The Hunger Games
Okay, I know…I know. I’m an adult and I’m into The Hunger Games. But, I have this thing for tortured souls. Finnick was devoted to Annie. This revelation about myself was puzzling to me. As I mused on my favorite couples, I noticed that I gravitate to couples that really fight for one another and that are devoted. Maybe this is because I come from a broken home. I need someone to be devoted to me—to fight for me and for love. As an adult, I wanted that for my children. So, I just adore devoted lovers.
3: Arwen and Aragorn from Lord of the Rings
This was a rare instance where I felt the movie was better than the book. I just loved Movie Aragorn and Arwen. Again, devotion. Arwen was devoted to Aragorn and put his well being and needs above her own. I wish the books had included more of their romance.
4: Anne and Gilbert from Anne of Green Gables
Yes, I know what people say. No, I don’t care that Gilbert yanked on Anne’s braid. She cracked a slate of his head. I think things are even. Does this one even need an explanation? No, I don’t think it does.
5: Tommy and Fiona from Brigadoon
One of my favorite movies of all time is Brigadoon. There is nothing deeply profound with this pairing. Except for maybe that he gave up his career for the woman he loved. This is a great classic and nothing beats a good Gene Kelly movie. The music, the dancing, the whole thing…I just love it!

Told ya it would take me a little while! Life has been pure insanity lately! Arie’s been logging in some extra physical therapy lately!
