Will Jessica break Bill’s heart?
The surf’s up in Sweet Valley, and Jessica Wakefield is making a big splash with Bill Chase, a hot surfer boy. But after she’s got him hook, line, and sinker, she loses interest and ignores him completely.
But there’s someone else who would love to catch Bill’s attention: sweet, shy DeeDee Gordon. And Jessica is not about to let DeeDee steal her prize, even if Bill doesn’t matter to her. If he looks at DeeDee, Jessica comes him and sweeps him away, back into her arms. Can Bill escape Jessica’s undertow, or is he in over his head? Find out, in this Sweet Valley High book by Francine Pascal.
Jessica is just terrible. I swear, I can’t figure out how Jessica hadn’t murdered someone yet. Better question, why someone hasn’t murdered Jessica? For the love of all things good and holy, I sure hope this girl never has children. She can’t be trusted with them. No way! She’s a sociopath.
In this book, she’s decided the best way to get revenge on Bill for turning her down is to make him fall hopelessly in love with her. By hopeless, I mean that he’s a total doormat. No one deserves to be treated the way Bill was but I had trouble feeling sorry for him. What kind of dude decides he’s so in love with a girl (that he’s only kissed once) that he’ll put up with doing her dry cleaning while she’s out with another guy? No. Just. No. Get it together, Bill!
Then you have DeeDee falling so hard for Bill that she’s wiping away tears when he chases Jessica around the school. I mean, what? They were never even a couple and she’s so heartbroken about him being with Jessica that she’s rushing out of the school with tears rolling down her face. Give me a break!
And if all of that wasn’t bad enough, Elizabeth decides that Todd is cheating on her (again) and immediately shuts him out. Didn’t this exact thing happen in the last book? Why doesn’t she just talk to the guy?! If Todd wasn’t such a pushover he’d tell her where to get lost when she goes on these wild tangents. I swear he needs to walk away from the crazy!
This series is why the phrase, “I can’t even,” came into being. Truth.
