Eight-year-old Lucy Turnbull knew better than to wish for a pony that Christmas in 1937. Her mother had assured her in no uncertain terms that asking for a pony was the same as asking for the moon. Besides, the only extra mouths they needed at their boarding house were the paying kind. But when an interesting pair of strangers comes to town, Lucy starts to believe her Christmas wishes might just come true after all. The queen of the Christmas novel, Melody Carlson pens another magical tale of expectation and excitement as one little girl dreams big and the impossible becomes possible.

The Christmas Pony is not only a sweet Christmas romance—it’s about a little girl’s prayer for a pony. Little Lucy wanted nothing more than a pony for Christmas—she never dreamed that she might get a daddy. This book was endearing. Though the romance was predictable—it was sweet and I couldn’t help but love it.
This book had a near love triangle but it wasn’t annoying like most books. It was more the suggestion of a love triangle rather than a real one.
As always, romance in a novella feels a little rushed but the story was too adorbs for me to hold it against the book.
Melody Carlson is truly the queen of Christmas. I betcha her doctor hears her heart beating to the tune of Jingle Bells when she goes to her yearly checkups. No one does Christmas quite like Melody.
I really loved this book. The cover, the characters—even the one I loved to hate—and of course, the magical feeling of Christmas that the author managed to capture.
This book is a wonderful novella to put on your to-read pile for Christmas this year. Of course, you could be like me and order it to read now! It’s really THAT good!
