Follow the heart-wrenching story of Adam Beachy, whose mother walked out on him and his family—and away from the Amish faith. Now he balks at the idea of ever marrying and having a family of his own. But when tragedy strikes, Adam is suddenly a father figure to his three nieces and finds himself needing a wife. Despite their differences over her practice of reflexology, Leah Mast seems the best option to fill that role. Can they make it work in a modern-day marriage of convenience?
The Gift is the second book in the Prairie State Friends series by Wanda Brunstetter. I was so pleasantly surprised by this book because I’ll be honest—I didn’t enjoy The Decision as much as I’d hoped. I just didn’t connect with Elaine. If you haven’t read my review of The Decision, you can hop on over and see why I struggled so much with that book.
The Gift was delightful and engaging. I really like Leah and even Adam, though he could be a bit of a grump. If you stick with the story, you’ll find out why he is so opinionated.
I still feel as if the people living in this series have terribly bad luck. Poor Jonah is just being put through the wringer. I hope that he finds his happy ending. I really hope that if Elaine is his happy ending that she matures a bit. She is still coming off as so self-centered!
All-in-all, I really enjoyed The Gift and I cannot wait to pick up the last installment, The Restoration.

I need to finish it up! Been busy with review books and haven’t had time to finish the last book.

Oh don’t go there! I can’t remember the last novel I read because I had bought it and I am a compulsive book buyer

Very true. I have realised that I take on too many requests and started offering guest posts rather than a review. My Netgalley % is terrible as well. I believe the only non review book I have read recently is my Bible, then again that’s an everyday occurrence!

I made a review schedule and read a month ahead. Im losing read time due to vacation and dont have all of july done yet. Which is rare. But I try to stay ahead and plan with google calendar so I can keep up. Im trying to catch up ONE old netgalley review a month too.

I can’t do the schedule a month in advance thing, I’ve tried but generally fail due to my health. I do try keep on top of everything with my diary but generally things are moved about. Reading poems makes up for the lack of novels ? not really but if I keep telling myself then maybe it will come true!

I understand that. I’ve health issues too. Fibromyalgia, ehlers danlos (awaiting official diagnosis) and pots (also awaiting diagnosis)
But with my particular health stuff, I find myself in bed to rest (but not necessarily sleep) a lot. Which means I get to read at least.

Oh gosh, my friend has fibro and a ton of other things with it so I can somewhat understand. My pain meds make me sleep and I loose track of time. For me today is Saturday for some messed up reason lol that’s a frequent occurance unfortunately. But sure we just have to play the cards we are delt and see where they take us in life. Reading actually makes me a lot worse and if I had any sense I wouldn’t read so much, husband is always telling me I read too much. I refuse to admit he is right ?
