Okay, Y’all…I have a doozy for you. Any of you remember that edition of “Hey, You!” that called out authors that whine about their negative ratings? Yes, that post was inspired by a particular “author” and yes, I put that in quotations because at this point I am reluctant to call her an author. She’s a writer. Not an author. The drama continues. Not only did she email me several times immediately following my rating of 1-star. After a full month and nine days—she had the audacity to comment on my Amazon review in a manner which tried to disparage my thoughts. I’m not joking. She really did this.
No, I’m not going to call out her name as I try to be semi-professional with this blogging thing. But, I’m just puzzled by it. I feel bad for her. Not because of my honest review but because she’s obviously let this eat away at her for over a month. That’s not healthy—at all. No, I will not change my review because it’s honest. But, I will pray for her and hope that she finds some measure of peace and professionalism.
Unfortunately, it appears that a few other reviewers did buckle and remove their reviews. The reason I’m bringing all this up is that I want my reader-friends and fellow book reviewers to know that it is not okay for an author to bully you into changing your review. In fact, it is illegal for an author to try to influence your review. Even if he/she states that they are not trying to influence your review—if their manner of communication guilts you—that is not okay. Do not remove your review. I would encourage you to report them to Amazon and to the FCC. What they are doing is illegal.
Authors, if you’re considering doing this? The more you comment on a review on Amazon, you push its relevance to the forefront. This review of mine is now the “Top Critical Review” on Amazon for this book. Lashing out does nothing but bring more attention to the negative review. You throw that boomerang and it will come back to whap you in the head.
Moving on…

Bookish Finds
It’s been time for me to shop again! Or window shop, that is. I’m going on vacation soon and I’m looking for a journal to keep track of books I read while I’m gone—so I don’t have to pull out my laptop. As I reflect on this, I’m thinking that it’d be useful to note favorite quotes and passages when I’m reading at therapy with the kids as well. I’m also looking for a tote to carry books, pens and such in when I’m on the go. Be sure to click the images to go to the listing if you’d like to favorite/purchase for yourself!
Goals for this Week
Some of my goals are repeated from last week. I happened to get a few review books in the mail which threw my reading schedule off as I needed to read those first!
